Notice things. Sometimes, when I'm out walking, I spot something and snap a picture. Unlike the days of film, there’s no cost to taking the shot—even if it seems unremarkable at the time. But later, as I sift through the photos, I notice details I overlooked. When I took this particular shot, I focused on the birds without really seeing the forest around them. I’m not sure what species they are, but I’d guess they belong to the local pigeon battalion. Another bird of prey seen this evening. I've photographed this bird many times in the past but oddly, I've never come across on stationary in a tree before today. Got a crow in shot as bonus content.

Color photograph, portrait format, multiple exposure, black with green nuances. Motion-blurred self-portrait of a woman looking into a mirror, so that the camera is in front of the face, but the eyes are visible. One of the faces looks at the viewer with a disturbingly "insane" expression. Through additional exposure with another portrait of the same person, the face is composed of two different expressions, thus appearing unreal. The green structures that overlay the body are created by mixing them with photographs of tree bark and clover leaves.

#PhotoOfTheDay is of sunrise alpenglow on a string of desert hills/mountains, Anza Borrego desert during Desert Rendezvous 2012

In the foreground is Toyota Land Cruiser 80 series with awning and RTT deployed. Behind it the desert stretches into the background, to a low train bridge, and then there is a small mountain ridge that is bathed in orange light alpenglow from the sunrise.
