Hmmm. Going after the shape shifter who took the shape of an ex / current partner and romanced her but then swindled her on something like an elopement. But the party doesn't know it yet, so they go after the ex but along the way we realize the real ex is innocent , so the ex joins they party.
The ex's perspective is just a harem anime, where he gets bullied relentlessly by the girls who still don't 100% believe the shape shifter story but are willing to look for it just in case.
Hehe, what if the ex isn't a man? ;)
Shhh don't spoil it, that's the plot twist for the season finale!
This is unironically a great premise — I could see it working well for a one-shot
My favorite was a one-shot where a bunch of ex-lovers for this noble NPC got together to rob them. Turns out, the noble was a devil. Breaking and entering turned into quite the interesting escape
