There were tariff increases on stuff i buy for work even before they went effective

This is because vendors need to price things at their replacement cost. What they sell you a widget for is not what it cost them in materials and labor to make (or buy from their supplier) that widget, it's what it'll cost to produce/procure the next one they need to put on the shelf to replace that one.

The main gripe I've been getting from my suppliers lately is that none of them actually know what the fuck is going on with the tariff price increases because every day it's a different number that's coming out of the dickhead's mouth. The plan is as ever to just pass the cost along to the buyer(s), but nobody can plan ahead because no one can get a straight and consistent answer on what the added costs are going to be.

They're not "trying" to do this, they're doing this because the tariffs increase the prices they have to pay to get their goods, so naturally they need to increase the price they sell said goods to consumers so that they can turn a profit and continue to exist as a business. This is not, was not, and never will be that hard to understand.

They've been doing this since early March. My electrical supply costs just keep climbing.

The sad thing is that even after tariffs are removed, the prices probably won't be reduced much.

Additionally while retail prices will remain high, stock prices responding to tariff toilet tweets will continue to reflect the same pump and dump scheme Trump bragged about in the White House with Charles Schwab.

Duh. What else was going to happen?

Well, we all expected they'd just sell everything at a loss, or get Mexico to pay, or something.

Anyone surprised by this is an abject fucking idiot. And fuck you, legacy media, for the breathless, shocked tone you’re presenting this with. This is like being surprised that you’re bleeding after you stab yourself in the fucking leg.

Just ordered a new video card to replace my 6-year old one simply because I fear prices are going to go up with 20-35% across the board for all PC parts worldwide. Without this threat looming I would definitely have held off for another year or so.

Of course they are. Capitalists gonna capitalize.
