I’ve been wondering why this doesn’t happen. Sell to an intermediary and then import.
Isn’t that similar to how companies use Ireland (etc.) to dodge corporate taxes - all the profit happens outside the country? Apple Ireland buys a thousand iPhones at €200 each, then “sells” them to Apple UK at £800 each. Apple UK retails them at £850 each and therefore the “profit” is entirely outside the UK.
