President Donald Trump’s rush to deploy California National Guard troops to Los Angeles has left dozens of soldiers without adequate sleeping arrangements, forced to pack together in one or more federal buildings, resting on the floors of what appear to be basements or loading docks, the Chronicle has learned.

yea, sleep deprivation is key for submissive obedience. funny how the same method is used for torture

If they wanted comfortable sleeping quarters they would have joined the Air Force /s

Looks like the third amendment might become relevant for the first time in centuries

Watch trump pull some colonial 1700s British law into effect as an emergency for housing soldiers

Love y'all, but this isn't news.

This happens literally everytime a unit goes literally anywhere.

Weekend exercise your commander put together last week? Sleep on the ground.

Month long training exercise you've been planning for a year? Sleep on the ground.

Deployment to a foreign country for nine months? You guessed it! Sleep on the ground.

They didn't even deploy with cots? The only time I slept on the floor was when I had to keep the mobile server room secured.

Hmm, so the felon in charge is making nat.guard into unhoused persons. smh.

A lot of these guys are being pulled from full time jobs and they don't get paid very much as a national guardsman anyway. This is horrible what they're doing to them too.

That could work to our advantage. Piss them off enough until they lay down arms and walk off the job.

Three tenets to live by:

  1. Don’t fuck with a (wo)man’s wallet
  2. Don’t fuck with a (wo)man’s family
  3. Don’t fuck with a (wo)man’s food

~Edit: in my defense, I just finished watching David Tenant be the 10th Doctor, and the speeling is stuck in my head.~

"tenets" ... I thought you were giving me housing advice.

They are not getting paid anything in this case. Usually they get paid by the state when doing work there, but since they were federalized they are under federal juridistion now and won't get paid by the state for deployment. And Trump isn't providing federal funds, hence them sleeping on the floor, having to pay for food themselves, using their own equipment.

These are mostly teenagers living on the edge anyway, or they wouldn't be in the National Guard. This is so not cool.

That’s simply not true. They get payed the same rate as an active duty soldier while federalized, based on their rank and service time. The sleeping on the floor of the ICE detention center is because there is not a space for them in the city.

There's a running joke in the military that field exercises train you for when you separate and become homeless.

I was wondering how he was going to speed run the bill of rights but I think I see the path now.

he is planning to do this in his parade too.

nah that's just how soldiers are, they grab sacktime on any surface, great reason not to help quarter them

the problem is that they deployed soldiers against civilians in a US city

Yeah this isn't that bad. When I was in the Marines you catch sleep where ever or when ever you can. I've slept on so many different floors and types of ground. You get used to it honestly.

Ive met airmen who can sleep standing up, its genuinely impressive.

In before "We are asking all patriotic Americans to open their homes to our brave soldiers restoring order to the unlawful Democrat hellhole that is Los Angeles!"

https://constitution.congress.gov/constitution/amendment-3/

Third Amendment

No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.

To be fair, asking for civilians to help place them isn't a Constitutional violation, forcing them to do so is.

Either way it's ridiculous and already well past the line of bullshit, bit that wouldn't be a crime at all.

honestly if trump violated the fucking third amendment I'd be kind of impressed. at this point which amendment in the bill of rights hasn't he violated?

He already did back in 2020 after the murder of George Floyd. Although I don't think the National Guard was federalized at the time so maybe that doesn't count.

It's like Trump broke all the ten commandments and now he's trying to break all the Amendments.

Congress will declare a war on liberals. Honestly the founding fathers left that one way too open ended.

Aaahhww, you still believe trump would care about the constitution? He's wiped his ass with that more times than I care to remember

Looking at traffic and road closures on Maps, 2000 NG are mobilized to watch a few miles of freeway going into the city. The protests are only blocking one side of the freeway and anyone can leave. What a massive over reaction.

And those troops are sleeping on floors and have no bathrooms. Imagine having to crush the liberty of your fellow neighbor while being unable to take a shit in a toilet.

Salute them for their service.

Same thing happened when they were finally sent to defend the Capitol on Jan 6th.

Also remember when Trump called them up and pulled them away from their families for Thanksgiving so he could fearmonger that migrant caravan full of women and children?

Yup, exactly what I thought of. Concrete parking garage in winter. Without food. Remember a few Democrat politicians would buy pizza for the service members because Trump didn't care about them?

Trump has so little regard for service members.

Didn't he say those that got shot or crippled are losers?

Fuck those guys for following orders violating the Constitution.

Yup. 2000 more people for the jail cell imo—or the grave.

You know that parking deck or whatever they’re all sleeping in smells like farts and piss by now.

The billionaires have us at each others' throats.

trump never considered soldiers people.

Had me in the first half, not gonna lie

The entire extent of the planning is "Troops go in. Troops shoot protesters."

This is not only incorrect, it is just plain unfair...
They are supposed to shoot TV reporters too. And, well, anybody really. Not just protesters.

I think the ones doing that were LAPD.

The army tends to have much better discipline.

Not always, but certainly compared to American police, who don't seem to have any.

army has better discipline

Yeah. Bar is so deep it's frozen, but yeah.

It's very easy to just tell them to get a hotel and they'll be reimbursed or just bulk order all the rooms in a couple hotels. The national guard troops along the border in their pretend mission do that, they all just stay at a hotel.

I'd imagine they get a lot more notice though.

Multiple hotels have yold them to go fuck themselves.

I imagine they all have some idea what the people of the city will do to them if they quarter the enemy.

Edit: though i just heard, on the morning of june 11th, that a 'best western' let some of the invaders sleep there. So if anyone has any reservations with that chain, they should be cancelled.

Stop paying taxes. Let miller figure out how to pay for his stupid ideas for his stupid military.

When do we get to the point where our military says NO WE WILL NOT???? Can it be now please?

Any military that are actively down there in CA are dishonoring our country. Disgraceful! What is more important --- doing what is right and standing up to dictatorship as the constitution says you should, or sucking an old fucks crusty dick???

You can't expect people drilled for obedience their entire careers to suddenly turn into rebels. You can hope, but you can't expect

When a general decides to say so. The soldiers at the bottom of the ladder have free thought drilled out of them during basic. They've proven time and time again that they'll follow illegal orders (just look at the war crimes committed in Iraq and Afghanistan). Do not trust people in the armed forces to be good people.

Don't care. Name and shame every one of these people following illegal orders, at the very least.

“Go stand around” is much different than “shoot to kill”

Doesn't matter. They shouldn't be there at all.

Unconstitutional is unconstitutional. There is no grey area here.

And anyone who offers them a bed or a meal.

Unless that meal is poorly prepared and they get sick.

As much as I don’t care for Newsom, he’s playing this well. Using the photos of the guys piled on each other in some classroom to call out Trump directly.

Political affiliations don’t matter here; Americans like soldiers. Especially older people, they get livid seeing our soldiers get treated like shit.

#GoodWorkGavin

We've had the same thing with politicians in Canada. It's gone from "he's an asshole" to "but he's OUR asshole".

I think congratulation politicians - whether you live them or not - when they do good things is well warranted. Keep in mind that while many couldn't give a shit about you or I, they DO like ego-stroking and attention so positive reinforcement can actually work well.

If there is at least one national guard who has family in the LA area, you are acting hostile to a fellow guards family. The president of the United States doesn't give a fuck about you, or your brothers or their family. Do the right thing.

100 billions per year for the military industrial complex but apparently none for the military itself.

I remember seeing a similar photo/story of the CBP reinforcements deployed to Portland OR back during the height of the BLM protests.

Fucking deserved if you ask me.

Enjoy the floor, Nazi fuckers. You deserve to sleep in a place much much lower than that
